Earlier this year, Sarah reached out to us looking for a fresh look for her brand.
Over the last several months, we've worked together to rebrand her business and create something that connects deeply with her audience of momma's.
Read on to hear from Sarah + us on what it was like bringing the project to life.
SO, WHAT'S THE SITCH?
Sarah came to us looking to rebrand her business and rebuild her website.
As a family nutritionist and picky eating coach, Sarah Bester works with moms to help inspire healthy habits, and happy, drama-less mealtimes.
Her old look didn't quite fit the vision of what her business had become. She wanted something that connected with her audience of moms, but was still playful for the kiddos.
An important goal for Sarah, was for us to create something — from the brand visuals to the website, that would be easy for her to grow and maintain herself without the constant need for hiring a designer.
Why did you decide to hire us?
Sarah: I was in the process of rebranding and I wanted to overhaul my site in order to better reflect the direction of my business. However, equally as important was a desire to gain control of my web presence. My previous site, while "pretty", was a complete mess in the back-end (due to some bad hiring decisions when it came to design and development) and I was not able to make any updates on my own, which was frustrating and costly.
I hired 407 specifically because design is not something that comes naturally to me, and I knew that you could help bring my vision for my brand to life.
What was it like handing over control of a portion of your business?
Sarah: It was a little scary, only because I'd had such a bad experience in the past.
However, from the minute we started working together I felt 100% comfortable and had complete trust in you girls and the process - which was SUCH a nice feeling.
SO, WHAT DID WE DO?
Our inspiration for the visuals came from us talking to Sarah and learning about everyday life as a mom. Some days the pieces fall into place, the kids behave, you have the time to prep perfectly, and the stars align. But other days it's just messier than that and that's life. Perfection is unachievable.
We mixed typography and patterns to show this beautiful imperfection.
For the brand colors, we pulled all of the colors from different veggies. The palette is fresh + fun, while at the same time not overwhelming. Does anyone else want to run off to the farmers market after seeing it?
For the website, we decided to build the site on Wordpress because Sarah was familiar with it and it will grow with her (with membership and shop capabilities). We used a bare bones theme that would make it easy on us to totally customize the site, but also make it easy for Sarah to update most of the content.
What was the hardest thing for you about working with a designer?
Sarah: Probably trying to articulate what I was looking for (since half the time I didn't even know!)
Luckily, you were able to make sense of my ramblings and pull everything together in a way that completely brought my vision to life. You made such an effort to understand my feedback throughout the process - which wasn't always easy :) Plus, I really appreciated how you took the time to weigh-in and provide your input on each aspect of the project. I felt like you were a true partner in this - which made the experience soooo much less scary and overwhelming.
What surprised you about going through our design process?
Sarah: How streamlined and professional the whole process was. I never had to wonder what was going on, or follow-up with you girls. You were so on top of everything every step of the way. This whole project just seemed to move along so smoothly and felt so organized the entire time. The constant updates were extremely helpful and allowed me to really focus on other areas of my business in between deliverables.
Also - all the "extras" that just made you stand out - the brand guide, the keeping up with your site videos, answering ALL the questions without being annoyed... :) You have one delighted customer.
SO, HOW DID THAT TURN OUT?
We'll leave this one to Sarah!
How did our work add value to your business?
Sarah: Oh my goodness, let me count the ways!
You created a brand that reflects who I am and how I can help my ideal customer. (And gave me the tools to keep that brand consistent as I grow my business!)
You provided me with so helpful design tips and strategies that took my site to the next level.
You provided me with the tools to manage my site in a way that will allow me to pivot as my business changes and grows.
But overall, you gave me so much confidence in my online presence, which I KNOW will allow me to take my business to a level that would not have been possible otherwise.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
