"If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit." -Banksy
Recently, 407 took a little summer solstice from our regular blog postings and even a bit on the social media front. This wasn't something we HAD to do. We weren't really traveling or overloaded, we just wanted to rest.
Ever since we started our business, we've always made it clear that we never wanted this work to be a burden. If we aren't having fun and enjoying the work, we aren't doing it right. So in keeping with that spirit, we always like to schedule breaks every now and then.
As business owners, it can be scary to give yourself a break. Sometimes it's hard to make ourselves stop when we have momentum and sometimes it's just scary to feel like we aren't making money if we stop. But after every rest we take, we always come back better than before.
Have you taken a break from your work lately? If you haven't, chances are you will start to feel worn out before you know it. This is a place I've found myself at more than I'm proud to admit in our business. When I'm constantly "on", I find I start to resent the things about this business that usually bring me joy. It's even made me think it would be easier to quit at times. When I came across this Banksy quote during our time away from blogging, it totally reaffirmed my belief in our breaks.
So as hard as it is to take a step back from your business, or even just certain parts of your business, do it! I promise you will thank yourself later.
