"If you can let go of passion and follow your curiosity, your curiosity just might lead you to your passion." Elizabeth Gilbert
First of all, can we just talk about how Elizabeth Gilbert is the greatest? Seriously, go read Big Magic and listen to videos of her speaking. You'll fall in love too.
Like Elizabeth Gilbert, I have always been an inherently passionate person. But unlike her, those passions have constantly shifted and compiled throughout my life. While I usually remain passionate about whatever it is I am driven by at any point, I will attach myself to some new dream, new path, new goal.
Lately, I haven't had that. For the first time in my life, I just feel stuck. I spend most of my time working or planning a wedding or honestly, watching Netflix with wine. There's nothing wrong with any of those things, but I just don't feel THAT passionate about it all.
It's had me feeling really, really down. I'm totally unmotivated and having a hard time even enjoying the things that normally require no effort for me to enjoy!
So, I've decided to take a step back and stop pressuring myself to feel passionate. To stop looking forward so consistently to a "but what's next?" I'm going to let myself relax enough to find my curiosity instead. Rather than pushing myself forward, I've decided I'm ready to be led.
PS. We're taking a little summer vacation from the blog. We'll be back to posting on July 12!
