We're definitely big believers in investing in continued education of your craft. If you follow us on social media, you probably know we did just that at Circles Conference a couple weeks ago!
We've been to Circles Conference the past two years and it has been such a blast. We even attribute our first year as being the catalyst that started this little business of ours. This conference is jam-packed with inspirational speakers really gets the creative juices flowing. It also doesn't hurt it's in the Dallas area so we just crash and save the extra ca$h monay we would have spent on a hotel.
Although this is the only conference we have attended (so far!) we have picked up on a few tips and tricks that make the experience even better.
Take good notes.
It may seem obvious, but you will be so glad you have notes when you're trying to remember that one person who talked about that one thing. It can also help inspire future blog posts and other content! It's easy to mix up talks when you don't have notes. This year I took a sketchnotes workshop with Sean McCabe and I love having such fun notes to look back on now!
Meet up with at least one person.
We're both pretty introverted, so we know that it can be a little intimidating to reach out to people you don't know and make real, solid plans to meet up. But both years we have made connections before hand that we are SO glad we met up with! You have someone to chat with in down time and may even meet more people through them. Last year we are so glad we met Morgan from Little Creative / Little + Tiny who we still LOVE keeping up with. We even interview her and her #bizwife in our Dynamic Duo series.
Don't feel bad if you don't make it to EVERY event.
Conferences are tiring! And if you can make it to every event that's great. But if you just need to rest, get your rest. Especially if the conference is multiple days. This year we skipped out on the Circles after party so we could get out to Elgin, TX to #glampsohard in a yurt and didn't feel bad about it. You just gotta do what feels right for you.
Now we've dipped our toes in the conference waters, we're starting to look at what others we want to attend in the future! We think Yellow Conference, Designer Vaca and Create & Cultivate (which is in Dallas next year, so bonus points) look AMAZING. Is there a conference you've been to or are dying to attend? Let us know so we can get it on our radar too!
