Above all, the goal of 407 is to serve people pursuing their passions. Nothing makes our hearts happier than seeing people recognize what motivates them and using it to follow their dreams. In honor of celebrating the passionate, I'm sharing the journey of one of my very best friends.
Morgan has always known what she wants to be when she grows up. Her love for making a difference and her talent in science have always pointed her in that direction. But what I love about Morgan isn't just her drive, it's the way she shaped her life around reaching her dream. From high school all the way through undergrad, she shadowed multiple doctors, took on extra research projects, studied her butt off for her MCAT and did her best to make great grades. When senior year in college came around we all knew it was time for her to look into med schools and carry on kicking ass. So, when Morgan didn't get into medical school we all weren't sure what would happen next.
But Morgan did. She knew she had to keep on hustling. She got into a Master's program to better her grades, retook her MCAT, and spent two years living almost 1,000 miles from her family and friends working four jobs. All so she could apply to medical schools for the second time. After receiving a number of rejection letters again, it looked like Morgan's second chance could be gone.
But yesterday afternoon she was accepted to medical school!
So what's the point of this story? Am I just bragging about how proud I am of my friend? Well, yeah I'm bragging, but I think Morgan's story applies to the passionate small business owner.
We know what we love. We can't help but feel that it's our calling, but what makes it our calling isn't passion alone. It's only through hard work and persistence that we can use our passions to make the life we dream of living.
