After being in business a couple of months now, we’ve started to find our groove a bit. But running a business isn’t something you can do without good, affordable tools. Most of our favorite resources are completely free, even! Here is a quick list of the apps and programs we find ourselves using on the reg.
Dropbox is by far our most used tool. Because we collaborate on every project we do, we need to always be able to access each other’s files. This also helps us keep all of our past and present work completely organized.
HelloSign is an AMAZING site to use if you run a service business with clients. We use HelloSign to electronically sign all of our project contracts!
The main thing I use TurboScan for is lettering projects, but it also comes in handy for scanning receipts for any biz purchases we make so we can file them on dropbox for our accountant to go through come tax season.
We weren't sure how useful Slack would be with only two of us, but we have loved it so far! It has an app and can be accessed easily on a desktop. It's been great for keeping our conversations organized into channels so we can easily go back and look for any notes we've made.
When you have a partner in business, sometimes it’s easy to lose track of whether or not your partner already emailed that client, so we like using ToDoist. Whenever something gets done you can easily check it off! We also love using it to specifically assign tasks to each other to make it clear who is responsible for what in the day to day. I also love that it has an easy to use app that will send push notifications when a task is due.
I have to say I was told how great Evernote was for so long, but never understood the appeal. It looked like it was basically just the notes app that already came on my phone, but I discovered the true advantage of Evernote with shared notebooks. We love using it to keep all of our brainstorms in an easy to find location.
As we live in two different cities, sometimes it’s hard to keep up with our different daily schedules. CalenMob syncs all our calendars (google, phone, etc) into one easy to see place. Now I can easily see when Kristin is at the doctor or how many days left until she goes on a vacation. Kristin alos uses Sunrise though, and loves it for the same reasons I love CalenMob.
