If you read our last post, Lindsay shared shared a bit about who we are and where we’ve come from.
Today, I want to share a little bit about why we decided to start doing business together and why I believe it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
First off, I never thought Lindsay and I would be partners in a design business. Her goal in school was to work at an advertising agency and mine was to work for myself. We’re still pursing and achieving these goals. But we still craved more.
I know I’m making a pretty huge statement with what I’m about to say but...partnering with Lindsay is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life (not just in business).
It's given me confidence.
There are times when I really doubt what I am doing and the direction that I am heading. By simply having someone to say “Whoa. That’s good.” or “Whoa. Step back.”, I am learning, growing, and improving at my craft. And while any creative community could help me with this, a partner who has the same vested interests has made all the difference.
It's given me freedom.
It’s forced me to let go of perfectionism. My opinion and way of doing things are no longer the only concern. I have to compromise. I have to let go. And it’s freeing.
It’s allowed me to explore. In the past month I’ve only been home for a few days and while I’ve been working while traveling, having a partner has allowed me to not have a mini heart attack that a client is going to have an emergency while I’m away from wifi.
It's given me motivation.
I’m not saying I wasn’t passionate about what I do before I partnered with Lindsay. But Lindsay depends on me to get my shiz done. That extra drive has increased my productivity and forced me to prioritize.
I thought that partnering with someone would be a good business move. I thought that two could conquer more than one. But it’s been such a surprise to see how much I’ve learned and grown in our short time as partners - not only professionally but personally.
There is so much to share about being in business not only for yourself, but as a duo. We look forward to sharing so much more about what it looks like with you as we keep learning and growing in our partnership. If there is anything specific you’d love to hear about leave us a comment or shoot us an email so we can chat.
