I always have a lot on my mind as I head into the holiday season. It's supposed to be a season filled with joy and kindness all around, but sometimes I just feel like we're all running around like chickens with our heads cut off instead. I get frazzled and frustrated as I chase down time I will never catch up with.
So in the midst of the crazy this year, I intend to do all things with generosity in mind.
Be generous to your family and friends
In the middle of the hustle and bustle, don't take those people for granted. We are so stupidly lucky to have people who care about us. My family is always my number one and this season I'm okay with putting them ahead of the business stress. Generously give your time and love to those who matter most.
Be generous to strangers
I'll be the first to admit I can get a little bit road ragey. I mean, not scary kind. Just the curse you out in my car kind. Anyways... I'm trying to be mindful that I'm not alone this season feeling stressed and crazed. It's tough sometimes, but I'm working hard to remember everyone is fighting their own battle out there and sometimes even smiling and saying hello can soften the edge. And I'm definitely looking to gift a stranger a free Starbs in the drive-thru a few times.
Be generous to the ones you work with
Depending on your situation, this may mean you have coworkers at a day job, you own employees, a business partner, or clients. No matter the situation, be thankful to the people you're spending most of your time focused on. I'm making sincere efforts to push through this no matter my own personal struggles. Be generous with your "thank yous!" and don't be afraid to let them know when you appreciate something they have done. It can go a long, long, longgggg way in the busy season.
Be generous to yourself
Don't worry friend, I didn't forget you. You have worked so hard all year, so don't forget to thank yourself. Appreciate what you have accomplished. REWARD YOURSELF, dammit! Stop stressing and choose to your own happiness, whatever that looks like. Get refreshed and get excited. I promise, that little investment in yourself will pay off.
*In light of all the holiday season, we will be pausing our blog posts for the week of Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American readers!
