Adventures are something most entrepreneurs talk about. In fact, adventure is usually why they break out on their own in the first place. The desire for a challenge that provides joy and freedoms.
I've always felt the draw toward adventure, but I have to say I never dreamed of how many big, wonderful and unexpected adventures I would take on this year.
To start off. I have traveled more this year than ever before. This may be funny to people who know me well because I have done a LOT of traveling in my life. Our family vacations are a tradition and always incredible. But this year was new. I've taken little sporadic trips consistently all year long because I finally gave my boyfriend the travel bug! This year I saw the Golden Gate Bridge, drank wine in Napa, snowboarded in Telluride, walked the Freedom Trail in Boston, and glamped in a yurt in Elgin. Before 2015 is up, I will have hiked in Hot Springs, AR and gone back to Telluride. The adventures you can experience so close to home are pretty astounding.
Those adventures were amazing, but they didn't surprise me. The big adventure that has surprised me most is this little business right here. When I was in school, I have to admit this was NEVER my dream. I imagined a long career in big agencies working for big, high budget clients. I wanted a Cannes Lion and the Creative Director title.
But dreams change. Not necessarily for better or worse. They just do.
This adventure has been beautiful and wonderful. More than anything though, it has given me a great appreciation for the unknown. Goals and dreams are important, but I can't wait for the unexpected adventures to come.
